Blissful

Blissful

We are told to believe that happiness or so called bliss is the state we want to reach. Sure, if I do those things exactly as the superstars whom I follow and are happy in their lives. I will reach that eternal state of happiness right?

No. You will feel happy although it will only take form of a guest visit. You cannot make it stay for long in your home.

Now you’ll be wondering that all this while you were miserable trying to achieve it. And now that you have achieved it, you felt it for sometime and now you’re back to the same state being miserable again. It kind of resembles a peak right.

Well if being at the top of Mt. Everest is your peak then you can’t stay there forever. A minute or two max, even if you planned this out for years in advanced and that whole expedition was a month or more long.

Well I too fell for this happiness bullshit. I was surely conditioned with this thought process and started to believe the fairytale narrative.

If I’ll clear this exam… then I’ll be happy

If I’ll get this college… then I’ll be happy

If I’ll get this job… then I’ll be happy

If I’ll get this girl… then I’ll be happy

If then [fill-in-your-wish]… I’ll be happy. You see the pattern now. It doesn’t last forever.

I learnt this the hard way. The lows were as low as the highs and lasted for longer. I am still learning of ways to cultivate happiness in my daily life (Cultivate because it’s natural tendency is to grow and I have to make sure to water it every day) and in what I do which is why I won’t advice on what works and what doesn’t. What I can say is this.

Work for things you want, but don’t forget to enjoy the fucking process!

Wishing you luck in your journey!
